![]() ![]() © 2011 INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR FIRE SAFETY SCIENCE. This paper summarizes their reactions and responses, exit route choices and travel paths. Statements were available from 355 survivors present in the building at the time of the fire. The analysis was based on a content analysis of witness statements collected by various police agencies after the fire. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC) undertook a research project to study the behavior of building occupants in this incident as they evacuated the building. ![]() I forget the name of the study, but it’s said to be the #1 proof that some types of psychic phenomenon must be real.Pyrotechnic devices activated in a small nightclub ignited a fire that killed 100 people and injured at least 200 others in February, 2003. Those people occur in recorded greater numbers before tragic sporting events and doomed flights and probably concert fires. What is an abnormal statistic, is the greater number of people who suddenly “don’t feel right” about going, or “have a bad feeling” or experience a sudden sense of depression that overwhelms them and changed their mind about a flight or event they had been looking forward to. In many cases people get sick or make different plans, and that percentage of people tracks as a normal predictable statistic. Those who have tickets to an event and then decide not to go are more difficult to track than those who have airplane flights and don’t show up - and those like your aunt who didn’t buy a ticket but suddenly decide to not go to something they would otherwise have enjoyed are hardest of all to quantify but anyway … this group has a study where they interview people who survive disasters because they just didn’t show up as planned. I wont post the direct link here but check out the Station nightclub thread on - the answers you may seek lie there. There is a group that tracks the statistics of folks like your aunt - meaning people who suddenly decide at the last minute to skip going to an event/location/airplane flight that ends up being a horrible disaster. Does anyone know if there is a repository on the Internet of all the witness statements I believe they were at one time posted on the Internet, but I am not able to locate them.
